NEC SL1000: NEC SL1000 Unique Selling Point (USP)

There are a few unique telephony/ecology/security features that the newly launched NEC SL1000 offers to the enterprise users and sometimes home users (those who lives in landed properties, big house). I would term them as the unique selling point (USP) of NEC SL1000 series Smart Communication Server.

In terms of unique telephony features we have the following for NEC SL1000: Mobile Extension, Mobile Extension Callback To Mobile, Remote Conference, Live Record (InMail), ability to configure the system without the need for maintenance terminal VIA the use of digital phone, ability to make use of internet browser to upload/download VRS messages, ability to use the VRS as your own personal Music-On-Hold (MOH). I understand that many installers of NEC SV8100 don't know that we can simply upload a customized short clip of a song as a system VRS message and then point to this VRS for your own personalized MOH. Well for NEC SL1000 it is the same, we are able to do that instead of having a external music player plug in into the CO trunk port of NEC SL1000. Secondly on the unique features of NEC SL1000 with regards to ecology we can have power saving mode which I feel is good for the greater environment as a whole. When the digital phone is idle by default it will draw lesser power from the NEC SL1000 chassis in return achieve a win-win situation both for the consumers and also the environment. One of the very interesting feature of the ecology mode is that we are able to define "power off" mode for certain packages or cards (408, 008, 000, PRI) during non-office hours which to the NEC SL1000 system is the night mode. This also saves electricity bills for the consumers and like-wise for the greater good for mother earth. Also the NEC SL1000 Smart Communication Server is build with the "Green Earth" concept meaning the components used for the production meets the ROHS criteria.

Lastly the Security feature of the NEC SL1000 is a great concept with design catered to the enterprise and especially home users. The interesting thing here is that we can connect an infrared red sensor to one of the hybrid ports of the NEC SL1000 and upon triggering of the sensor, the system can be pre-programmed to call a certain number (presumely to police) with pre-recorded message. And that's not all, the NEC SL1000 system can also do an internal paging (through the digital phone in speaker mode) and also external paging if connected to a external paging unit. I find that this security is good for home users and also factories or warehouses.
