NEC SL1000 Licensing Process Explained

Today i explained in details on the entire process of how do you purchase the NEC SL1000 licenses, activate the licenses and load it into the NEC SL1000;

1. Purchase of NEC SL1000 Licenses
• First kindly refer to my earlier posting [SL1000 License Structure Explained] to understanding the usage of the NEC SL1000 Licenses, and when do we need the licenses
• One important thing over here is you will need to have the NEC License Management System (LMS) portal login account tagged to your company, or if you are one of the 3-tier partners who purchase the NEC SL1000 through your reseller then make sure they have the NEC LMS Login ID
• The reason here is because upon the purchase of the NEC SL1000 licenses, email notification (to the ADMIN role defined during account creation) will be send by the NEC LMS portal notifying that the NEC SL1000 license purchase has been processed and ready for activation

2. Activation of NEC SL1000 Licenses

• *Assuming you have the NEC LMS Portal Login ID 
• Once you receive the email notification that your PO for NEC SL1000 has been processed and ready for license activation, you will need to login to this portal URL; http://asialic.necinfrontia.com/license/ (for Asia market), 
• Ok this is what you need from the NEC SL1000 => Hardware Keycode (see the picture on the right)
• This is the brief overview of license activation in the NEC LMS portal;
• Customer ID creation
• Tagging of the NEC SL1000 Hardware Keycode to the newly created Customer ID
• Attaching NEC SL1000 Licenses to this Customer ID
• Activate the NEC SL1000 Licenses
• You will then be prompted to download the NEC SL1000 license file (format: .lic), please store it locally in your PC/laptop

3. Loading of NEC SL1000 Licenses into the NEC SL1000 Main KSU Chassis
• Next we discuss more on how to load the NEC SL1000 license file into the NEC SL1000 system
• Primarily there are 2 methods to load the NEC SL1000 license file into the NEC SL1000 system (main chassis);
• First method: Using PCPro
1. Login to the NEC SL1000 using the NEC SL1000 PCPro
2. Connect to the NEC SL1000 system
3. In the menu bar click on 'Communications' => 'Feature Activation'
4. A small window showcasing all the current NEC SL1000 license activation status for each individual licensed features 
5. Click on 'Load File' and then navigate to the place where you have saved your NEC SL1000 license file and click Open
6. You will now see the following message 'PCPro was successfully registered'
7. NEC SL1000 license successfully activated
• Second method: Using WebPro
1. Launch a Web Browers Internet Explorer
2. Set the URL to point to the IP address of the NEC SL1000; default IP address is 192.168.0.10/24
3. Perform a NEC SL1000 login process (username: tech   password: 12345678)
4. Once login successfully look for the icon 'Feature Activation' under the Administration section
5. You will see the IE refreshes to showcase all the current NEC SL1000 license activation status for each individual licensed features 
6. Click on the 'Browse' button then navigate to the place where you have saved your NEC SL1000 license file and click Open
7. You will now see the following message 'License registered successfully' in the top right-hand corner of the IE window
8. NEC SL1000 license successfully activated
