SL1000 Retro Fit (To Support old Aspila Topaz digital phones, TEL2)

Officially the existing Aspila Topaz digital phones are not supported by NEC. I guess this statement has angered many installers and existing customers as SL1000 is seen by all as the replacement for Aspila Topaz.

With this thing in mind, recently there was a announcement for the installer to enter special commands in order to support the existing Aspila Topaz phones.

Here are the details;

In case if you may require to offer the connectivity of Topaz keyphone to SL1000 for your
commercial demand, the following program command shall be used:
PRG 99-03-60: Set to “1” (Default: 0)

(Note)
- Topaz keyphone has to be TEL2 type only. (TEL1 type is not supported)
- This is applicable from “1.2” version of main software which applied from April/2011
production.
- If the Topaz keyphone was connected before change the above data, then plug off and on
for the line code shall be required per extension.

==> NEC's Corp stand on the usage of the Topaz phones;

a) Any voice and acoustic issue, such as Transmit/Receive/Side-Tone level, Echo/Noise level,
shall not be supported in case of Topaz keyphone (TEL2).
b) NEC Japan will not nominate Topaz keyphone as SL1000’s lineup in any Test Reports.
c) In case if any future enhancement shall be applicable on Navigation key of SL1000
keyphone, then it shall not be supported since physically not there.
